• Originally named March Field, March Air Reserve Base was established in 1918.
• March Air Reserve Base is one of the nation’s oldest air bases.
• March Air Reserve Base has the longest runway on the west coast (more than 13,000 feet) and is a back-up landing strip for NASA Shuttles.
• March Global Port is bringing much needed employment into our community.  As many 3,000 new jobs may be created as a direct result of this development.
• Through revenues generated by March Global Port:
  • More than $2 million in local road improvements will be possible.
  • One million dollars in flood control improvements for Riverside County will be possible.
  • Over $500,000 will go to local schools.
• Developing March Global Port has helped to keep March Air Reserve Base open.  Had the base closed, Moreno Valley, Riverside and Perris would have sustained a $200 million economic loss.
• Making air logistics available to companies through March Global Port will reduce truck traffic through Riverside County to other airports such as Ontario and Los Angeles.  This will cut emissions and improve air quality in our neighborhood.
• Results from a public opinion poll among residents of the communities surrounding March showed:
  • 87% support the use of the base for military training, logistics and transportation purposes
  • 55% of those supporting March for this purpose also support March Global Port
  • 66% of respondents would like the base to expand airport operations and add passenger flights
